From even before we pass our driving tests many of us will have a dream “prestige car” in mind that we want to own. That one car that ticks all the boxes gets our hearts racing, and that we’d just love to drive. Most of us probably won’t get our dream car the moment we pass our tests at 17, but the dream of owning a “prestige car” is not unattainable.

And, if you’re thinking about buying a new prestigious car, you’re not alone. In fact, it’s estimated that the luxury car market will grow by approximately 12.25% between 2021 and 2028.

What makes a car prestigious?

Prestige is a vague term, and probably differs from person to person, but is generally accepted that a prestige car is above all else desirable. People want it and dream about owning it. The cars are usually manufactured by renowned companies that are respected around the world.  The cars are reliable with a touch of glamour. They are exciting to drive while offering comfort and security, and they’re usually expensive.

So, what are your options for a new prestige car?

There are lots of cars in the market that would fit the prestige description, here we look at some of our favourites.

Bentley Flying Spur

We’re starting off with the Bentley Flying Spur, because when you think of luxury cars, a Bentley is usually pretty high on the list. The Flying Spur is the brands “small” door limousine. It comes with four-wheel drive and Bentley’s 6.0-litre W12 engine, delivering a sub-four second 0-62mph time, and a top speed of 207mph – impressive for a two-ton-plus saloon.

Bentley Continental GT

We’re sticking with Bentley for the next car because no prestige car list would be complete without the Bentley Continental GT. It’s available with two engines: a 6.0 W12 or a 4.0-litre V8, and as a convertible, which boasts a fabric roof that can fold down in just 19 seconds at speeds of up to 30mph. The latest model, Continental GT Speed, tops out at 208 miles per hour and has a whopping 650 break horse.

Maserati MC20

Landing in the UK in the second quarter of 2021, the Maserati MC20 is setting the standard for the future of the brand. Digitally engineered using new processes Maserati have been able to go from conception to production of the MC20 in just two years, meaning it’s one of the most advanced cars in their range.

Porsche Panamera

The Porsche Panamera is a mid/full-sized luxury vehicle, with room enough for 4 people and some luggage, making it one of the more practical supercars on our list. The base model is rear-wheel drive and powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6, but for a little more money, you can have it with 4WD, and as an electric plug-in hybrid.

Aston Martin VALHALLA

The Aston Martin Valhalla is not even released, and it’s already got us dreaming about it!

Named after the warrior’s paradise in ancient Norse mythology, and inspired by F1 cars, the Valhalla comes from Aston Martin’s collaboration with Red Bull Racing. It’s a mid-engine supercar with a plug-in hybrid that will produce 937bhp, offering speed, and a beautiful design.

Land Rover

The next car on our list is practical, well designed, and luxurious, and it’s no surprise that beloved by royals, busy mums, and celebrities alike, the iconic Land Rover. The current popularity of SUVs has only increased demand for Land Rovers and the new defender has been described as a “ go-anywhere-do-anything” vehicle that has been reimagined for a modern world, looking at home in both the countryside and busy high streets.

Lamborghini Huracán Evo

While the Huracán maybe Lamborghini’s entry-level model, it’s far from basic. With 631bhp and impressive aesthetics, the Huracán does not disappoint, and it’s packed with new tech to make sure the drive is both comfortable and exhilarating.
